I am a professional window installer and on my crew and just about every other crew i work for or run, i am responsible for caulking the interior and exterior of all the new windows. I have used tons of different guns over the years and none perform nearly as well as this one. I had a buddy hand one to me about a year ago, and i haven't picked another one up since. The dripless action is flawless, the handle is comfortable and the action is incredibly smooth. Each squeeze is consistent even after months of heavy use. Even when the caulking tubes are cold, it still performs with much less effort than all the others, i like the slim shaft the holds the tubes because it makes it easier to fit in tight places. Also like that it is plastic, and metal where it needs to be. Extremely durable, ive only wrecked 1 in the last year and that was after quite a few drops from ladders. Compared to others where the feed bushing wears out and it stops pumping. Its a little more expensive than some of the others, but well worth the investment. I have had several other installers pick these up after using mine. Top of the line. makes my life easier, and helps prevent hand cramping.Light weight, easy to useI have a large trim and painting project, which requires quite a bit of caulking - a few thousand linear feet. Purchased this Newborn 212 and the all metal Newborn 930 GTD. My job would have to be much larger to justify purchase of an electric or pneumatic caulk gun. Both guns are a big improvement over non-dripless caulk guns because they reduce waste and mess from too much caulk. Both caulk guns are troublesome for very long caulk runs because it is difficult to get a smooth stop and restart on a good, small bead (as used for prior to painting, think baseboards). Medium to large caulk beads over short distances, such as around sinks, are a pleasure to do with this gun and a rubber caulk finger or a gloved finger.I'm knocking a star because this gun stopped performing well after three tubes. It does not grab well and requires fidgety pumping of the handle. I switched to the metal one and have done a dozen tubes with no issue plus easier unloading of spent caulk tubes. The metal model costs less than two dollars more at this time, lacks the "cool green monster" looks of this gun, but so far lasts longer for me. Retracting the rod for loading is smoother and more straight-forward on the metal model as well. This is a good occasional use caulking gun. This caulking gun is the best caulking gun ever made! Makes even the novice Caulker look like he can sling caulk pro! Easy to control when the pressure is released it stops the flow.I dropped mine that I bought locally off the roof it didn't do so well but I was two-and-a-half stories up. I bought two this time so I have a backup!LISTEN! UPDATE CHECK THIS OUT! If some of you amateur caulkers cant even figure out that you need to pull back slightly on the rod when loading your caulk snd thet the tube needs to be on the outside of the 2 little tabs (between the tabs and frame) then you should just quit caulking. Give up your caulk. You dont deserve your caulk anymore. Im no pro but this gun makes me look like a caulking STAR. As a Handyman I have tried probably no less than 15 different caulking guns. THIS ONE IS THE WINNERBE A CAULKING PRO. BUY THIS CAULKING GUN! SLING YOUR CAULK LIKE A CAULK STAR. NEWBORN FOR THE WIN!I had trouble in the beginning trying to retract the caulk gun and it took way longer to figure out how to load the gun because there were no instructions and the design of this caulk gun is different than many others. However, once the caulk was loaded, the gun worked perfectly how it should. I would recommend this to others. This caulk gun is designed to lay a fine, smaller (quarter inch or less) bead of caulk without dripping when pressure is released, and it does so without issue. Beware that if you are going to try to lay a very large bead or use a product that is thicker, ie, more dense and heavy, the force you have to apply to get it to work will result in the trigger releasing and not pushing the product out. You must have a standard gun if using thicker products or forcing out large quantities of product like construction adhesive. I suspect low ratings reported are a result of excessive force being applied to the trigger to accomplish the above.Solid caulk gun, does great job of preventing leaks even in the heat. Downsides: tube is held on by two arms which it can miss causing it to jam and can be hard to get the tube out afterward in order to align it properly. Also mechanisms can be difficult to clean after blow outs. I am happy with the purchase overallBeing a maintenance tech for over 6 years now i have used several dozen different caulk guns. This on here has ZERO drip after stopping and has a precise holder to allow the best lines to be laid down. When attaching the tubes though, be careful not to put the tube edges in-between the tabs; the tabs themselves need to be inside the tube to keep it straight and secure. I have broken the tabs on the first one by doing this.Purchased this to use with sealant on my RV. Glad I spent a few extra bucks for a better gun. Easy to get the tube in and out of and the punch to open the sealant is a nice touch. When I stop pressing the trigger the sealant does not continue coming out and the grip and feel in the hand was still good after using it for several hoursHave to cut the tubes so they can be inserted in the gun. The plunger does not come back far enough to insert the tube into the holding area. Very disappointed. This is not a cheap caulking gun. A gun of this quality and price should work better. This thing us terrible. Didn't have a chance to use until now because if covid but this thing is unusable. Don't waste your time or money on thisWaste of money, garbageDecided to try a drip free model but unless it's just the one I got, this one seems to drip just as much as a normal one.
