these locks are amazing. I bought this replacement because my front gate one I installed 16 years ago finally died on me. I have a second one that has been there for 16 years that is fine, that one is just real low use location I expect another 30 years on that one.. These are the marine ones.The one I am replacing is used day after day many times a day. I live beachfront salt air where so many metal things die early, not these. It has withstood 4 direct hit hurricanes one a category 3 that was blowing water sand through my doors.I have taken only this more exposed one apart 2-3 times over the years and soaked the slide that holds the door shut in gas to clean it and spray with a drying lubricant like WD. I am also in a dusty area from a lot of wind activity is why I have had to clean the slide (that is brownish part) in the picture.The only rust it ever has was on the two screws on just one of them. I now use a different screw that is not philips is my only recommendation, buy hex SS screws that are found on amazon easily for a few bucks. To get 16 years of life from a high use product in salt air, wow... I use this in conjunction with a opposing electronic door latch so to enter people use the electronic side and if power goes down this mechanical. But people to exit are using the turn latch to exit.I love this lock. It has been the perfect solution to a door that had to be locked with a key whenever you left the home. This lock automatically locks as you shut the door. The combination is easy to use and my children can get in without a key and they love the freedom.It was a bit tricky to install since we had to make all the holes in the door ourselves. But if we can do it... anyone can!!! If you already have holes in your door for this lock- you are home free- it would be a snap!Enjoy!These locks work great if maintenance is properly done on beach front properties. Make sure you understand the pin setup as any order the numbers are punched in will open the lock.This is my second lock like this. I use it in outdoor marine environments. After one year of use, so far, so good. Only issue has been that the lock sometimes does not reset when the knob is turned (after inputting an incorrect code), so the "C" button needs to be depressed ignored to reset the lock.Great but need to punch in the code from the outside to throw the latch to lock itWorks OK - sometimes we have to put the code in several times before it will open but it is secureDon't waste your money ! Bought this at Christmas for an outside gate. Installed (not very easy), and now on July 4th the latch mechanism is completely broken. Will not even retract the latch by the inside lever (non-coded side).Thought I was spending good money for a quality product. I was wrong.I absolutely love this lock. I had purchased one for other doors in the house and will never buy another brand again.
